GUTTERBALL * HELP PAGE

Frequently Asked Questions
-----

Q: How do I control the ball? It always goes in the gutter!
A: The movement of the ball is controlled by your mouse position. Pull the mouse to the left side of the screen to spin left, and to the right to spin right. Also, note the "Spin" number of the ball you are playing with, since this also affects ball movement.

Q: How do I throw faster?
A: Drag the ball from the bottom to the top of of screen - fast as you can! It helps to begin the throw by pulling the mouse downwards a bit, as if swinging your arm back.

Q: I've added 4 players to the game. How do I remove extra players and play 1 player?
A: Click on the round P2, P3 and P4 buttons to the left of the player names to remove extra players.

Q: How do I speed up the ball when it is rolling too slow?
A: Click while the ball is rolling to get a boost of speed.

Q: The 3D game screen is tiny! It is much smaller than the black area of the screen!
A: On computers without a 3D video card, Gutterball plays in a half-size window. If you have a 3D card and the game area is half-size, you may need to download new DirectX software from Microsoft.

Troubleshooting
---------------
Gutterball has been tested thoroughly to make sure it will operate correctly for
users whose computers have sufficient 3D hardware and processor speeds. Computers
with a 3D video card, and processor of 333Mhz or higher should perform well.

If you run into problems with strange system behavior or visual oddities, you may
want to try these fixes:

1) Upgrade your computers video card drivers. This can be done by identifying the
type of video card your computer is using, and finding the manufacturer's web site.
Or, most drivers will be automatically updated if you follow step #2

2) Upgrade DirectX. This is a Microsoft component and it includes special drivers
for video cards and sounds cards for virtually every manufacturer. It is therefore
a very large download, but updating DirectX solves nearly all system problems
that are encountered with Skunk Studios games.

The most recent download location for DirectX is:
http://www.microsoft.com/directx/homeuser/downloads/default.asp

3) Re-install Gutterball. Sometimes downloading and installing the latest version fixes the problem!
